The largest metal laser cutting and bending service provider in the Baltic states, Lenstream was founded in 2001 and is headquartered in Ogre, Latvia. On a mission to grow and improve over time, Lenstream currently manufactures everything from steel forks to very sophisticated equipment that includes cutting, bending, grinding, and welding different types of metal.

Before we take a deep dive into the company’s growth plans and when the partnership with Scoutbee started, let’s take a brief look at what metalworking entails, shall we? The process of shaping and reshaping metals to bring objects, parts, assemblies, and large-scale structures to life, metalworking has always been a rather time-consuming and delicate job.

In this exclusive interview, Sandis Sraders, Lenstream’s Development Director, shares with us how the company has used Scoutbee as a new sales channel by meeting a demand for stainless steel tubes for a well-established German tech company focused on industry, infrastructure, transport, and healthcare.

Scoutbee: Connecting suppliers with global markets

According to Sandis, Lenstream tends not to advertise their products and services, so they rely on a “the client comes to us” approach, which works – to a certain extent. However, when seeking growth and new partnerships, the company had to look for other ways to meet potential new clients and Scoutbee presented itself as the ideal candidate, given its global reach and know-how.

“At the moment, we offer product development to our clients, and services that include metal works. But we also want to grow and are in the process of developing a research lab. So, in the next couple of years, we will be running an industrial park in the Baltic states that will be connected to real Baltika logistics, so it will be easy for our clients to ship their products. We can also take care of logistical solutions, as well as top services, as we are currently enhancing the quality of our services.” 

Using the Scoutbee AI-powered platform for the first time

The company has been using Scoutbee since January 2022, when it was contacted by Scoutbee’s sourcing team on behalf of a large German company focused on industry, infrastructure, transport, and healthcare. The company in question was looking for stainless steel tubes and, after being boarded onto the platform by the Scoutbee team, Lenstream was able to make an offer to the respective buyer and also opened new dialogue channels with other companies.

In spite of the fact that the company has not exactly been exempt from challenges lately, Sandis is pretty positive about the company’s added value and what the future has in store for them.

“Sometimes the challenge is to turn materials into a high-quality Mercedes, for instance, or some other sophisticated technology or device. We know this is something that our clients are interested in. So, if there’s a sufficient challenge for us that would allow us to cooperate with the client and take something really simple and turn it into something really practical, efficient, and well developed … Well, that would definitely catch our attention. There are no challenges that are too complicated for us. We are always looking for the most complicated ones,” concludes Sandis Sraders.
