Digital Supply Chain Management and Practical AI: How to Take Advantage of ChatGPT, Large Language Models and Generative AI

By Paul Hopton, Chief Technology Officer, and Nischal Harohalli Padmanabha,
Vice President of Data Engineering and Data Science, both at Scoutbee.

The current data landscape of supply chain management (SCM) organizations is already complicated and difficult to navigate. Exciting new products and techniques are emerging around a type of AI known as Large Language Models (LLMs), most prominently ChatGPT. Many simple tasks can be made more efficient using LLMs. However, the biggest potential can be found in using chat interfaces to unlock data from organizations’ existing data sources.

Opportunities for cost cutting, increased resilience, ESG ratings, innovation, and excellence are already being developed. Despite the excitement around these developments, most cutting-edge models were not designed with enterprise needs in mind, namely: financial, regulatory, and reputational risks.

Scoutbee has offered commercial solutions utilizing LLMs for a number of years, and is uniquely placed to deliver next-generation AI solutions for SCM. Scoutbee has developed practical AI models combining its knowledge graph, third-party data, and LLM-based chat into an enterprise-friendly system that is already being tested with customers. It has enhanced its existing graph-based solution with a chat interface to support both finding new suppliers and the analysis of existing supply bases to support daily and strategic procurement goals with ease.
